First Italian restaurant abroad to receive Michelin three-star rating
Hong Kong’s 8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana is the first Italian restaurant outside of Italy to receive the renowned Michelin three-star rating.
Chef Umberto Bombana‘s fine cuisine showcases some of the most typical and delicate Italian flavors and ingredients, among which the famous white truffle, combining them in unique culinary creations. Not for nothing has this former executive chef of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Hong Kong’s legendary Italian eatery, Toscana, been hailed ‘The King of White Truffle’. The choice of ingredients is not limited to only Italian products, but even when Bombana researches and selects products from all over the world, his intuition, heart and palate remain totally Italian, which is why all his gastronomic options are real postcards of the Bel Paese.
The name of his restaurant is a direct reference to Federico Fellini’s 1963 biographical movie classic. Like the film director, Bombana is a maestro of his art.
